For our family we decorate traditional every year. I absolutely LOVE the white and silver trend going on but for our family traditional is something we have come to expect each year.
90% of our Christmas décor are pieces from our childhood. Pieces handed down to us by our mothers. There's nothing better than sitting on the couch with some hot coffee, looking around and seeing pieces from your childhood that made you so happy now making your own children happy.
I am slowly buying new pieces to hand down to our kids that are more of the white and silver look but we have a long ways to go to get a good collection going.
The best part about our décor is that most pieces have a story. The girls especially love hearing about each of our "old" ornaments and who's they are and who they came from.
I have 3 favorite ornaments. The first 2 are ones my grandmother gifted us when the girls were born..
My other favorite would be the one I got after my father passed away. It has some of his ashes in it and I love looking at my tree every year and seeing it. The girls love looking at it as well.
The great thing about decorating with traditional items is that whatever you have and whatever color it is, it always seems to flow together lovely.
